Eye and Health Check-Up Camp
Having started off as an initiative to do something bigger by the students of the Department of Management Studies, Xavier’s Management Society began it’s functioning ten years ago. Since then, the society has held numerous successful events, involving participants from colleges all over the city.
In order to commemorate this special occasion, the Xavier’s Management Society on the 25th of January in association with Kolkata Swasthya Sankalp arranged an eye camp for the residents of Uluberia. The day was spent providing free eye check-ups, distribution of prescription glasses, and cataract surgeries to the underprivileged. The members of the society are thankful for having been able to be a part of such a heart-warming experience.

CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL ATANANDAGHAR
It is extremely painful to imagine the prospect of a child being treated as an outcast by society and
being abandoned by their parents, only due to them suffering from a health condition.
Anandaghar is heaven for such children and provides them with shelter and much-needed affection.
In doing so, the NGO renders the utmost service to humanity- for there is an abundance of hatred in
the world, but a shortage of compassion. This Christmas, the members of the Xavier’s Management Society in collaboration with NSS spent a fun-filled day with these children to celebrate zeal and
create lasting memories.
CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION WITH UNMISH
Keeping in mind the Covid pandemic which has affected numerous families in India, the
members of XMS initiated an NGO Visit on the 24th of December, 2021 at Unmish – a self-help
group dedicated to improving the quality of life of parents and children with developmental disorders
in association with the National Service Scheme. Unmish has expertise and experience to deal with
PDD (Pervasive Developmental Disorder), Learning Disability, Down Syndrome, Behavioural
Problem, Hearing Impairment/Delayed Speech, and all types of Developmental Disorders and
Syndromes.
Unmish is home to over 50 students, and the members were grateful to meet 25 of them along
with their parents. The professor in charge, Dr. Sukanya Sarkhel along with the Board Members
and Working Committee Members of XMS were a part of this visit.
The visit was a huge success! The children there were full of enthusiasm and love for life. Seeing
the precious smiles on the children’s faces gave the members of XMS a deep sense of
satisfaction, which cannot be expressed in words, only experienced. The afternoon spent at
Unmish has filled the student’s hearts with joy and the memories made will be cherished forever.
